Adamson House Wedding Cost The house, designed by renowned architect Stiles Clements, was built in 1929 and was first used by the Adamson family as a beach house that began in 1930. They took turns using this beach house and their home in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles until 1936, when the Adamson family and their three children began living in the Malibu home all year round.

Merritt Adamson died in 1949 at the age of 61, long after the children left the home. He lived in the house until his own death in 1962 at the age of 69.

Review | We had our dream wedding at Adamson House and it was truly magical. The spacious terrace and lawn area provided the perfect setting for our ceremony and reception. The barbecue area was a hit with our guests and the swimming pool added a fun and unique touch. The beach access allowed for stunning photos and the onsite parking made it easy for our guests to come and go. The bridal suite was a wonderful space for the wedding party to prepare. The event planning and coordination services were top-notch and the audio and visual equipment was excellent. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our special day. Adamson House is a beach house situated on 13 acres of land. May Knight Rindge and later her daughter Rhoda maintained it well until the state of California purchased it.
In addition to being a venue for special events, Adamson House also offers guided tours led by trained docents. These tours showcase the original furniture and the famous Malibu Pottery tiles. The docents provide information on the history of the house and its architectural and decorative elements.
In addition to the house, Adamson House also offers a guided tour of the beautifully maintained gardens in the style of a 1930s garden. Visitors can tour the gardens every Friday at 10 a.m.

Not only for weddings, Adamson House can also hold receptions, and special events. Special Event can be scheduled from March to November and take place in a beautiful waterfront area. Adamson House already has a sycamore courtyard, front yard, and backyard with views of the star fountain. All events are held outdoors, not inside Adamson House.
If you want guests to see the interior tiles and home collections, State Parks can coordinate a special tour schedule through our docent program. We also offer an “open” home tour during cocktail hours for an additional $500. A permit for the tour is included in the wedding contract coordinated by the wedding coordinator. Please note, there is limited parking available at the Adamson property. Guests can park in the LACO Surfrider Beach parking lot in front of the property or in the Malibu Lagoon Beach parking lot across the bridge.”
